Ok kids. If you have never heard of water intoxication before, then here is a warning. Drinking large amounts of water can cause water intoxication that can be fatal. Normally we hear about this when fraternity hazing goes wrong, but in this case it was a radio station promotion.
KDND 107.9 out of California had a “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest where entrants had to drink 8 ounces of water every five minutes. The last person left who had not had to use the bathroom was the winner of a Wii. One contestant had competed, but called her supervisor on the ride home to say that she had a terrible headache. When the mother showed up at her house after a warning from the supervisor, she found her daughter’s body.
Sad story, and just a reminder that anything not done in moderation can be very dangerous.
