There are people, and I would say predominantly kids, who will stick their gum underneath tables and other furniture to save it for future use. Someone was kind enough to make a product to tame those savages. These ceramic Gum Holders give them a place to store their gum. Obviously even gross habits can be an opportunity to make a buck.
