Introducing Li’l Gotham For Halloween

Hold onto your horses – DC Comics is doing something fun and non-controversial!

They’re releasing a new digital first series called Batman: Li’l Gotham by Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs. It will be released monthly with each installment focusing on the major holiday of the month; the debut issue today will be all about Halloween.

The series will be in the style of the above image by Nguyen. It’s super adorable, and I can’t help but wonder if it has anything to do with the success of Skottie Young’s Marvel babies variant covers. From the DC Comics blog:

“This has been a passion project of mine for some time now, and for anyone that’s followed my work, I’m sure it’s more of an ‘its about time!’ explained Dustin Nguyen. “The look and style is a slight departure from my usual (think the exact opposite of serious), but the idea has always been the same—to take our favorite existing Gotham characters, place them in fun scenarios without having to be tied to just one continuity or look and feel. It’s basically a Batman book for fans, by two huge fans.”

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s issue will follow after Halloween. I’m looking forward to downloading it and giving Li’l Gotham a try!
