Marvel Confirms Rumors About The New Avengers Assemble Animated Series

Many people were not happy when Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was cancelled. If you were one of them, you can look forward to seeing Captain America, Iron Man, and company in another animated series instead: Avengers Assemble. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb confirmed the rumor in a recent interview with TV Guide. He also mentioned the new series will tie into the movie as far as the timeline and tone:

The Avengers movie has been the ambassador to the world for the Marvel Universe so we want a show that has the feel and the tone and the incredible adventures like that movie. So the next project that we’re working on – and this is down in our lab, top secret, with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents protecting us at all costs – is Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, which will be a brand new and really extraordinary looking animated series dealing with the Avengers in that same world… We’re still very early on in the process and we don’t give away too much. It’s safe to say that we’re looking at a show that more closely echoes the tone and the feel of the movie.

That seems like a smart and obvious idea given the incredible success of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Loeb stated they’re planning to go in the direction of Ultimate Spider-Man for the animation style. It will be “a unique combination of 2D and CG and using top-flight writers and voice actors.” The series will also have  a new member for the team: Falcon. He will be the “eyes of the viewer.”

I’m really looking forward to Avengers Assemble, but it’s not the only series they’ll have on the air. Ultimate Spider-Man was renewed for a second season, and they’ll be introducing Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. I love seeing so many comic book-based shows on television!
