It looks like the X-Men aren’t leaving the silver screen anytime soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeff Wadlow, the director of Kick-Ass 2, has been given the green light by 20th Century Fox to write an adaptation of X-Force.
Lauren Shuler Donner, the longtime producer for the X-Men franchise, is producing the new X-Force film, and Wadlow may direct, as well. Donner is currently attached as the producer for the next X-Men flick, X-Men: Days of Future Past, as well as the planned Deadpool movie.
X-Force, which debuted in the early ’90s, was a spinoff of from Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men. The original X-Force team, led by a time-traveling mutant named Cable, was comprised of several of the original members from the first Uncanny spinoff, New Mutants, a group of teenage mutants who’d matured (somewhat) by the time they form the X-Force.
Speaking of mature (er… sort of), there’s a good chance that the foul-mouthed Deadpool might appear in the new X-Force movie, since he usually pops up in the X-Force comics from time to time.
