Edgar Wright left Ant-Man last Friday, and the only word from him and Marvel on the subject was a press release citing “differences of visions of the film.” Joss Whedon and Simon Pegg sent out supportive tweets, but Edgar Wright only retweeted Joss’ image and didn’t say anything else until he tweeted the above image titled “Selfie” then deleted it. However, Complex managed to capture a screen shot before it was removed.
The picture features actor Buster Keaton holding a Cornetto ice cream cone. The connection? During his career, Keaton stopped making independent films and started working with MGM Studios. He regretted it immensely and called it the worst mistake of his career. It sure does seem like Wright is trying to say something similar, which is given added weight because he deleted the tweet.
