Hugh Jackman Announces That He Will Play Wolverine “One Last Time”

Hugh Jackman has announced that he’ll don adamantium claws “one last time”. The news came via an Instagram post with the actor settling once and for all the question of whether or not he’d continue playing the character.

Therefore, his last appearance as the character will happen in the third Wolverine movie which is due in 2017. Apparently, the lessons of Birdman didn’t fully sink in.

He recently told Cigar Aficionado:

I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die. I know that someday they’ll recast the role with another actor… I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic.

Jennifer Lawrence has also confirmed that her role in Apocalypse would be her last as Mystique so it looks like there are going to be some pretty big mutant shoes to fill in future films.
