The mocking of terrible movies will be resuscitated with Netflix’s announcement that it will be the new home for the anxiously awaited reboot of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
The revival of the cult comedy series will reunite creator Joel Hodgson with original cast members Mary Jo Pehl, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy (Pearl Forrester, Brain Guy and Professor Bobo, respectively) and also introduce a few new faces.
Jonah Ray will play new host Jonah Heston, while Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn will act as the new voices of Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. In addition, Felicia Day will appear as Kinga Forrester and Patton Oswalt will play Son of TV’s Frank.
If that wasn’t enough, Joel McHale and Dan Harmon of Community fame are on board as writers along with the previously announced The Daily Show vet Elliott Kalan.
There’s no word on when the reboot will launch, but after waiting this long for a return, MST3K fans can surely hold out a little longer.
