Star Wars Episodes II and III Are Coming To 3D Next Year

Since The Phantom Menace came to 3D last February, I figured it was only a time before the release date for at least Attack of the Clones would be announced. The news dropped at the closing ceremonies of Star Wars Celebration VI. Attack of the Clones in 3D will be out on September 20, 2013, and Revenge of the Sith in 3D will follow shortly after on October 11, 2013.

I saw Episode I in 3D, and I have to say that I didn’t notice a lot of difference. Lucasfilm must have had the same reaction because they’ve changed the process for these two films. They’re working with a company called Prime Focus to convert the episodes to 3D. I saw clips of the finished 3D for both films at Celebration VI, and it looked gorgeous. The scenes showing the storms on Kamino and the Zam Wesell chase through Coruscant in Attack of the Clones were absolutely impressive. I’m much more excited to see them in 3D after seeing clips showing the quality.

Let’s hope they release the original trilogy in 3D 2014!
