If I took my computer in for servicing and the tech told me I had a virus and needed a better anti-virus in the future, maybe I’d listen.
But if that guy told me that the virus I had was so bad that it had damaged the machines in the repair shop, I’d likely look at the guy and question his choice in virus protection.
If he went on to tell me that my virus was part of an international conspiracy and that I’d likely need to pay for protection from Opus Dei because that virus was linking my computer to a remote hard drive in Poland and my life was in danger , I’d quietly pick up my computer and try not to upset the nice, crazy man as I walked out the door.
That’s what you’d do, right?
