Batkid And Andrew Garfield Didn’t Get To Appear On The Oscars, Went To Disneyland Instead

Remember Batkid? Like you could forget. Five-year-old Miles Scott warmed our hearts in October when he performed superheroic feats across the city of San Francisco in partnership with Make-A-Wish. Batkid’s crimefighting days aren’t over however—he was supposed to appear in a special segment on the Oscars with Andrew Garfield – a.k.a Spider-Man. Even though they rehearsed on Saturday, the feature got pulled on Sunday and Garfield was conspicuously absent at the ceremony.

Rumors are circulating that Garfield didn’t attend for personal matters or that it was because the Oscars decided to cut the segment because it didn’t fit with the tone. I don’t think it’s fair to attack or judge Garfield since we don’t know specifics. I’m sure Batkid was disappointed, but Garfield apparently did make up for it by going with Miles and his family to Disneyland on Monday (the Academy Awards paid for the trip). Batkid and Spider-Man together at Disneyland? Sounds like an okay resolution to me.

See a pic of the rehearsal after the break.
