Devoted Dad Claims A Kingdom Because His Daughter Wants To Be A Real Princess

Many 7-year-old girls want to be a princess, but Virginia resident Jeremiah Heaton is actually trying to make it happen for his daughter. He claimed 800 square miles in a region in between Egypt and Sudan called Bir Tawil in order to fulfill a promise to his daughter Emily. According to the British Herald Courier:

“Over the winter, Emily and I were playing, and she has a fixation on princesses. She asked me, in all seriousness, if she’d be a real princess someday,” Heaton said. “And I said she would.”

He did the research to see if it was possible and took a 14-hour journey to Bir Tawil (it’s not claimed by either Egypt or Sudan) and planted a Heaton flag. He believes that gives him the right to claim the area as his kingdom so he can name his daughter a princess, but he’s looking to get it recognized officially.

He’s certainly devoted to his daughter, but don’t think of Emily as just another spoiled kid. The little girl says she wants to be a princess to make sure the locals have food.

“That’s definitely a concern in that part of the world,” her dad said. “We discussed what we could do as a nation to help.”
