Surrealist artist H.R. Giger, best known for designing the iconic creatures in the Aliens series has passed away at the age of 74. Swiss news outlets are reporting that he died from injuries “obtained after suffering a fall.”
Giger won an Oscar for Best Achievement in Visual Effects in 1980 for the first Alien movie. He also worked on Jodorowsky’s Dune (the legendary movie that never was) along with numerous album covers, video games and interior design projects.
His legacy will surely live on among the countless artists and sci-fi authors that he has inspired over the years.
