One of the many things I love about Star Wars is that I’m constantly learning new facts. For example, the man who voiced Admiral Ackbar has never watched the original trilogy. I know! Erik Bauersfeld, a talented voice actor, recently spoke with Peter Hartlaub of SFGate about his brush with the galaxy far, far away.
As the story goes, Bauersfeld sort of fell into the opportunity to contribute to Return of the Jedi, though he wasn’t credited in the film. He recorded the famous, “It’s a trap!” line in one take. While he was in the studio, he spoke a few lines for Bib Fortuna. All-in-all an hour-and-a-half of work was all it took to complete the task. Luckily, fans discovered him and began sending letters and requests for autographs—he politely responds to each one. Bauersfeld seems like quite the classy guy to say the least.
