This German designed e-volo multicopter is touted as the possible future of flight - “piloting a device as simple as a car.” The aircraft is equipped with sixteen tiny propellers driven by independent electric motors, resulting in a quiet, clean and economically cost efficient machine.
The lithium batteries would allow for 10 to 30 minutes of flight depending on payload and battery capacity, expending roughly $10 worth of electricity in the process. In addition, the e-volo is extremely simple in design, and can land safely even if four of its motors fail.
The technology is still in development, but the team behind the e-volo are hoping that their aircraft will one day be used for air sports equipment, leisure and even “entirely new use areas that no one has yet imagined.”

A Chinese farmer named Shu Mansheng from Dashu village on the outskirts of Wuhan, Hubei province has created an insane hovering aircraft that consists of a circular steel structure and eight motorcycle engines. The current machine, which is the fifth model he has produced, cost more than 20,000 yuan ($3,135), and measures around 5.5 meters (18 feet) in diameter. During a recent test flight, Shu managed to hover about 1 metre (3.3 feet) above the ground for 10 seconds.

I would have thought pilots are not the type to sit behind a desk, but if they did, this Cessna control panel would be the perfect organizer.

Yeah, you could have been a fighter pilot, but why go through all that training when you can simply look the part by grabbing this ejection stool made from an original F-4 Phantom bucket seat and buddying up to the bar with beer and tales of things that never were? If you handle yourself well enough, the rush of Gs caused by the B.S. factor of your stories won’t hit until you end the night by passing out and wetting yourself. An additional design is pictured after the break.

I’m sure this is what the manufacturer of Continental radial engines had in mind when they designed and built these in the 30′s. Rather than powering an antique aircraft, this “pristinely restored ” engine is now available as a limited edition coffee table and conversation piece for your home, office or hangar with a nicely polished splined propeller shaft as your centerpiece. A limited edition stripped down Jacobs radial engine is also available with exposed pistons and crankshaft. A photo is available after the break.

Even though the F-117 Nighthawk has been retired, you can still pick up this giant 50″ x 61″ x 10″ model and display one of the coolest designs in aviation history. And, like most model enthusiasts, you’ll probably have to fight the urge to play with it like a child; pretending to launch little missiles while making obnoxious engine and explosion noises. Other aircraft models are also available, from the Fokker Triplane to the F-16. Additional photos are available after the break.
