BuzzFeed visited the DC Comics offices recently and received an early look at pages of art from the upcoming Before Watchmen series in a fancy three ring binder. It looks like the binder includes the script, but they only shared images showcasing character designs.

Regardless of how you feel about these Before Watchmen prequels, it’s hard to deny that the art is worth taking a second look at. I mean, the likes of Darwyn Cooke, Amanda Conner, Jae Lee, Joe Kubert and more fill out the talented roster pencilling the pages. Cooke and Conner in particular are in my top ten favorite comic book artists, and I’ll probably pick up at least the first issue of anything they work on including Watchmen.

See more character art after the break.

Hot Toys is continuing their plan to produce new action figures for the full Avengers team by releasing photos of their upcoming 1/6 scale Captain America figure, which will compliment their previously announced Hawkeye and Nick Fury offerings. The super-detailed figure is based on the likeness of actor Chris Evans, but differs from their First Avenger version by offering a new sculpture, costume and accessories.

A price hasn’t been released yet, but the figure is expected to sell in the $170-$190 range. Check out some additional images after the break.

We got our first glimpse at Cartoon Network’s new Batman animated series last month, but this teaser trailer gives us slightly better idea about how this whole CGI thing will play out.

Check out the teaser after the break, along with an official description of the show.

When I first heard about the Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll, I had very mixed feelings. The doll is now available for pre-order, and though I’m not sold, I’m relieved she doesn’t look as much like the classic Barbie doll as I feared she would. She’s wearing her arena outfit and comes with bow and arrows.

Designer Bill Greening says:

“I chose to dress her in the outfit she wears during the games, since this is where all the non-stop action takes place and is instantly recognizable by fans,” says Greening of the Katniss Barbie. “Of course, she wears her mockingjay pin proudly on her lapel.”

You’ll be able to get your Katniss doll in August. No word yet whether it comes with fake blood from the other tributes.

Batman is coming back to Cartoon Network as part of the DC Nation cartoon block in a brand new animated series titled Beware the Batman. Though they announced it a while ago, this is the first teaser image from the all CG series. I love the stylized design and can’t wait to see more of the overall look of the show. I’m also looking forward to seeing villains that are outside of the normal rogue’s gallery; the press release teases what’s to come:

A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a “Batman show.” Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans. With WBA’s Sam Register executive producing, and Batman Beyond’s Glen Murakami and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’s Mitch Watson producing, Beware the Batman, based on characters from DC Comics, is coming soon to Cartoon Network!

Super Best Friends Forever, a new animated series for DC Nation, is set to debut this Saturday on Cartoon Network at 10 am EST. Lauren Faust, the creator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is behind the series, so you know it’s going to be adorable and fun. Bronies will probably love it.

On that note, you can a little taste of what’s to come in the 20-second clip after the break.

Microsoft Spring Showcase happened last week and with it came news of the upcoming Halo 4. The game is slated for release this fall and will star Master Chief in his first adventure without Bungie at the helm.

343 Industries is the new team behind the Halo franchise, and they shared some vague information about the game. In the video after the break you’ll see a bit of the multiplayer experience. Kotaku also shared the following about maps and multiplayer mode:

The maps won’t be lifted from the campaign but rather have been created specifically to allow for balanced gameplay. When asked about balancing the multiplayer for MLG pro-gaming, O’Connor said that they are taking MLG seriously, but didn’t go into detail as to what exactly that meant.

In multiplayer, characters will control Spartan 4s, which are a new type of Spartan super-soldier; there will be a wealth of customization options for your Spartan. Some of those options will be cosmetic, but some will be functional.

Funko already has a line of adorable Lord of the Rings plushes, but it appears that they are working on versions for the upcoming Hobbit movie as well. Look for these to go on sale sometime this fall.

Max Factory’s figma line is synonymous with excellence—as we recently demonstrated with the release of this brilliant new Samus figure. As you can see from the image above, they are hard at work developing a lInk figure from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword—and it’s looking incredible so far. We can’t wait to see the final product.

Thanks Wilmersama!
