star wars muppets

It’s almost the time of year again for Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The annual event always means an influx of new Disney Star Wars merchandise, but some of the coolest products born of this mash-up are the mixing of characters from the Wars and The Muppets. As seen above, this year’s line up adds to a few new figures to the collection. Yay Gonzo as Darth Vader! You can only get them at Hollywood Studios for now, but they’ll probably be available at the rest of the parks soon.

Check out a couple more cool toys after the break.

Muppets Ghostbusters

When you need the Muppets turned into a bunch of characters from pop culture who you gonna call? Kenny Durkin. The artist has turned Kermit and friends into characters from Ghostbusters, Lord of the Rings, The Walking Dead, and more. It’s a cool idea, and the names of each piece are almost as neat as the actual art. I’d love to see Fozzie the Bear star in the The Wocka Wocka-ing Dead!

Right, because who hasn’t imagined the world of Final Fantasy as a musical involving puppets? Comedian Brent Black (Brentalfloss) spent about two years putting together this little musical video tribute to the mages from Final Fantasy. You’ve got the Red, White and Black mages all singing their little hearts out and the only thing funnier than watching them flail around is listening to the words they’re singing.

Like Star Wars before them, the Muppets are getting the Pop! Vinyl treatment. Choose from Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, Gonzo, Mahna Mahna, Snowth, Fozzie and Dr. Teeth. Shipping begins in July.

Doctor Who Muppets [Art]

If you were at SDCC this year, you might have picked up one of Amy Mebberson’s Doctor Who Muppet prints. If not, you can still bask in it’s glory via the image above.

Artist Peter de Sève imagines what it would be like if Kermit and Yoda spent some time fishing together on Dagobah. After all, they are technically related. Plus, they both know their way around a swamp.

The Muppets must be bored. They recently invaded Serenity and now they’re showing up in Game of Thrones. They apparently cannot wait for their upcoming movie. Since I like The Muppets, I don’t mind. Yehudi Mercado has cast the muppets carefully. It’s natural that Miss Piggy would take on the role of Cersei Lannister. Er, Queen Cersei Piggister. I wouldn’t get in her way.

As if you didn’t already have a good reason to visit Disney theme parks (especially now that Star Tours has reopened) you might want to plan a trip this fall specifically to get your hands on the new line of Muppets Star Wars action figures.

The figures include Beaker as C-3PO, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew as R2-D2, Link Hogthrob as Han Solo, Fozzy the Bear as Chewbacca, Sam the Eagle as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Gonzo as Darth Vader with his Stormtrooper chicken Camilla, Kermit as Luke and Miss Piggy as Leia.

Each figure pack will run about $19. Prototypes can be viewed at Star Wars weekends in “Jabba’s Hut, the specially-designed merchandise location near Disney’s Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster.” More pictures are available after the break as well.
