Concept artist Salvador Ramirez Madriz created this image of an infant Chewbacca in a mere 20 minutes. Apparently the bandolier was essential equipment even at this tender age.

The Saturday Evening Post looks better with Star Wars characters. There is so much that is completely sweet about this painting (titled Little Rebels), but my favorite part is Leia’s stripey socks. Don’t mind me. I’m just going to go melt in a puddle.
And if you thought this was cute, check out James Hance’s Star Wars version of UP.

The Doctor has been featured in a few bizarre paintings (like this one), and now’s he a Rembrandt. Some Doctor Who fans at Geekcetera found an oil painter to mimic Rembrandt’s well known-style and had the painter add in a few familiar faces. The actual painting, which is a replica of “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp,” is over 3 feet tall by 2 feet wide. It features the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors, River Song, Amy Pond, and more. Fantastic.
To commemorate the occasion, they’ve made one hundred 12″ by 15″ prints. It will look wonderful on the wall of your TARDIS.

Adding to his portfolio of action figure paintings, artist Robert Burden created this awesome work featuring the the Thundercats. The painting, entitled “Soliders of Thundera,” measures 6 feet by 11 feet unframed, and required 1,000 hours of work spread over 7 months. The best part is that Robert created a time-lapse video of the painting’s creation, which you can check out after the break – there’s also an easter egg at the end in the form of stop motion animation.

Swedish artist Andreas Englund created a series of paintings featuring an old superhero, explaining them as follows:
“Humor can be the carrier of messages that are otherwise hard to convey. For me, it liberates my thoughts and ideas from pretentiousness while at the same time it opens doors to new routes and angles.”
Apparently the message here is that superpowers can’t stop the aging process, or control the onset of gut fat and man boobs.
Still, older people need a superhero too. Someone to help them cross busy streets and defend them against Medicare fraud. Check out some additional images after the break.

Doctor Who fans might recognize this painting from the first episode of season 6—The Impossible Astronaut. Mathilda and the Doctor were just in it for the art of course, as the Doctor would never sully the reputation of an innocent nobelman’s daughter…*ahem*.
