After the news broke in 2010 that Soundgarden was reuniting after a 13 year hiatus, fans (myself included) have been anxiously awaiting news of new material. As it turns out, the band will be releasing a spankin’ new track entitled “Live to Rise” on the soundtrack for the upcoming Avengers film.
“When the opportunity arose to write an original song for ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ film came our way, we thought it could be a cool match,” said Soundgarden. “We are excited to release our new song ‘Live To Rise,’ which is also the only new song in the film.”
A “snippet” of the new song, which sounds like classic Soundgarden, can be sampled after the break, where you’ll also find the track listing for the soundtrack, which includes songs by Papa Roach, Rise Against, Evanescence and Bush.
